Start with one task

You do not need special software or a big budget. A free chatbot on your phone can already help with everyday work. The best way to begin is to pick one task that takes up your time each week and try it there.

Useful things to try

  • Product descriptions and posts. Describe the product in a few words and ask for a short description for Facebook, Instagram or a WhatsApp catalogue.
  • Replies to customers. Paste a customer's question (without their name or number) and ask for a polite reply. Read and correct it before you send.
  • Urdu and English. Ask for the same message in both languages, or in simpler words.
  • Price lists, menus and notices. Give your items and prices and ask for a neat, clear list.
  • Understanding a document. Ask for a summary of a long supplier letter or terms and conditions, so you know what to ask about. For anything legal or financial, still check with a qualified person.
  • Ideas. Ask for ten ideas for an Eid offer, a shop sign or a new product name.

Example instructions

You can write in English, Urdu or Roman Urdu. Be specific about what you want:

Write a short Instagram post for my bakery in Lahore announcing fresh plum cake for winter. Friendly tone, under 50 words, in English and Urdu.

Mere customer ne poocha hai ke delivery kitne din mein hogi. Ek polite jawab likho, Urdu mein, ke Lahore mein 2 din aur baqi shehron mein 4 din lagte hain.

The more detail you give (who the customer is, the tone, the length, the language), the better the result.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Do not trust prices, dates or facts blindly. AI can invent details. Check everything before it goes to a customer.
  • Do not share customer data. Keep names, phone numbers and addresses out of the chat. See what never to type into a chatbot.
  • Do not fake reviews or product photos. Customers lose trust quickly and many platforms ban it.
  • Do not let AI send messages on its own until you are confident in it. Read first, send second.

How much does it cost?

Most popular chatbots have a free version that is enough for a small business to start with. Paid versions add more capacity and features. Try the free version for a few weeks before paying for anything.
