Pathway: AI in public procurement

Four short modules on where AI can help public buyers, where it creates risk and how to keep tenders fair, confidential and well recorded.

Who this is for

Officers who plan, run or review public purchases: procurement and tender staff, evaluation committee members, finance and audit officers and project managers who work with suppliers. It is open to all grades. No technical background is needed, but you will get more from it if you already use an AI assistant for everyday office work. The operational officers pathway covers those basics if you want to start there.

What you will be able to do

By the end you will be able to:

  • explain where AI can genuinely help a procurement and where it adds risk
  • use AI to draft clear specifications and tender text, with the rules and the legal wording checked by people
  • use AI to organise bids against published criteria without letting it score or choose
  • keep tender information confidential and out of tools that are not approved for it
  • use AI to track a contract while keeping a record that an auditor can follow

How it works

There are four modules. Each takes 10 to 15 minutes and ends with a short exercise and a self-check. Take them in order: each one builds on the last. There is no sign-up, no test and no certificate.

This pathway does not describe any department's procurement rules and does not suggest that any AI tool is approved for procurement work in Pakistan. Public procurement is governed by strict rules on competition, transparency and fairness. Those rules and your department's instructions come first. Decisions about specifications, evaluation, awards and payments stay with authorised officers.

Modules

  1. AI in procurement: where it helps and where it harms

خریداری میں مصنوعی ذہانت: کہاں مدد، کہاں نقصان

A plain overview of what AI can and cannot do for public buyers and why fairness, confidentiality and records matter more here than in most office work.

  2. Drafting specifications and tender text

تفصیلات اور ٹینڈر کے متن کا مسودہ

How to use AI to write clearer specifications and tender text without copying supplier wording, leaking confidential plans or weakening the legal terms.

  3. Evaluating bids: organising, not deciding

بولیوں کا جائزہ: ترتیب دینا، فیصلہ نہیں

How an evaluation committee can use AI to organise what bids say against the published criteria while scoring, ranking and the award stay with people.

  4. Managing contracts and keeping the record

    معاہدوں کا انتظام اور ریکارڈ

How to use AI to track deliverables, deadlines and invoices after an award and how to keep a record that an auditor can follow.
