Pathway: AI for frontline and support staff (BPS 1 to 16)
Eight short, plain modules that show assistants, clerks, operators and counter staff how to use AI chatbots safely and carefully in everyday office work.
Last reviewed: . Reviewer: Muhammad Asadullah.
Who this is for
Staff in grades BPS 1 to 16 who keep offices running every day: assistants, clerks, data entry operators, computer operators, counter staff, receptionists and support staff. You may work in a secretariat, a district office, an attached department or a local office that deals with citizens face to face.
You do not need any technical background. You do not need to be good with computers. If you can send a message on your phone, you can follow this pathway.
What you will be able to do
By the end you will be able to:
- explain in simple words what an AI chatbot is and what it can and cannot do
- know what you must never type into a chatbot at work
- use AI to help with simple letters, replies, Urdu typing and tidying lists, then check the result
- explain an office procedure to a citizen more clearly, without sharing anyone's personal details
- spot fake documents, fake calls and scam messages made with AI and report them
- know when a matter is not yours to decide and must go to your officer
How it works
There are eight modules. Each takes 10 to 15 minutes. Each one ends with a short exercise and three questions to check yourself. Take them in order, because each module builds on the one before.
There is no sign-up, no test and no certificate. Read at your own pace. Come back whenever you need to.
Every module has a short Urdu summary. You can read the Urdu first and then the English or the other way round.
Always follow your own office's rules. If your office does not allow AI tools, do not use them at work. You can still learn from these modules and practise at home with public, non-sensitive text.
If you want to go further later, the operational officers pathway covers similar ground in more depth for officers who draft and decide. Keep the glossary open in another tab if a word is new to you.
